Traditional cabin: choose this for hot air, a heater with stones, and a seated sauna ritual. Infrared cabin: compare heater coverage, seating, and operating conditions rather than selecting solely by the number of wavelengths. Blanket: prioritize fit, a protected skin barrier, cleaning, and storage. A high temperature on a controller is not a measurement of heat delivered to your body.

Compare the full cost of owning it

Ask for one written quote that includes the selected heater, freight, unloading, assembly, foundation or floor preparation, electrical work, accessories, and taxes. Read separate coverage for the cabinet, heater elements, electronics, labor, and return freight. A low sale price does not answer those questions.

Running cost is power in kilowatts × hours of use × your electricity rate. For illustration, a 6 kW heater drawing full power for one hour at $0.20/kWh would cost $1.20. Real use varies with warm-up time, heater cycling, weather, and insulation. This is a cost example, not a promise about a particular sauna’s consumption.

What the health evidence can tell you

A Finnish cohort study linked sauna use with lower cardiovascular mortality. It was observational: it cannot establish that buying a sauna prevents a heart attack, or that an infrared blanket reproduces the same outcome. The sauna format and population in a study matter. Measure the delivery route, door swing, floor space, and actual bench dimensions. Follow the exact model’s manual and stop if you become dizzy or unwell. If heat or changes in blood pressure are a concern because of a condition or medicine, review sauna use with your clinician. Is infrared better than a traditional sauna?

We do not have a basis for a universal health ranking. Choose the heat experience and installation that suit you, and keep claims tied to the exact type of sauna studied.

Can a sauna replace cardio?

No. Heat exposure and aerobic exercise are different activities. Keep sauna use optional alongside a sustainable training routine.

What if I am not ready to buy?

Try an existing gym or spa sauna first. Compare comfort and whether you actually enjoy the routine before committing to a permanent installation.
